Dear Fellow Democratic Committee Member,
Now that the hard-fougtht campaign for Democratic Chair is behind us, I would like to solicit your help and ideas to reinvigorate our party organization.
First, our officers - 1st Vice Chair Bruce Shultis, 2nd Vice Chair Peter Gannon, Secretary Carolyn McLaughlin and Treasurer Bob Carlson and I believe strongly that our committee must be a party of inclusion and diversity, and we will work hard to make it so. We will make no distinctions based on whether an address is in a city, village or town.
What's most important is to get on with the business of the Committee to run quality candidates for all levels of government offices and to work hard to elect those candidates.
To start this off, we're working on two fronts: One is to set a date for a fundraiser to replenisll the Committee's coffers - a $100-a-head reception from 6:30 to 8:30 PM Friday, October 27 at Michael's Banquet House in Latham. You'll be seeing the invitation in the mail shortly.
The second initiative is to solicit volunteers to contribute your talents and ideas for service on one of our 12 working committees. They are: Education and Training, Minority Affairs, Outreach, Communications, Candidate Review, Campaign, Ethics, Finance, Sexual Orientation, Law, Public Policy and Rules. Sign-up sheets are posted at Democratic headquarters, or you can call 438-8282 or write us at 22 Colvin Avenue, Aibany, NY 12206.
This is an important time for our party to cement our past gains, build on our strengtlls and secure our party's standing for the future.
